Pure Joy

Written by Kari Hestand

Ps 34, Ps 91, Ps 103, Song of Songs 6:3,
John 10:10, John 15:9-11, 1 Pet 5:8

Pure Joy saves from sin, feeds the hunger deep within
Satisfies my aching thirst when I choose to seek Him first

Pure Joy, rich and deep, washes o’er me as I sleep
Calms the terror of the night, slays the demons that I fight

Pure Joy, high and wide, soothes the pain down deep inside
Answers all my frantic calls, wipes away each tear that falls
When the lion boldly roams, stealing joy, destroying homes,
Our God’s righteous wrath ensues and the lion He pursues

For, He who never sleeps nor faints encamps around His treasured saints,
Guards them by His mighty power against the one who would devour

Pure Joy takes my hand, lifts me up, helps me stand
Encircles me in His embrace, His warm, sweet breath against my face

Whispers words I long to hear, Tenderly into my ear,
“I’ll never leave you.  I’ll stay right here”

Pure Joy, fresh and true, Redeems my life, makes all things new
Restores my hope, removes my shame, Speaks to my heart, calls me by name,
Reassures me with His voice, Prompts my spirit to rejoice

Pure Joy builds and grows, floods my heart and overflows
Touches everyone around, testifies to what I’ve found;
Communion with my Jesus, sweet fellowship divine

For I am my Beloved’s   And He, PURE JOY, is mine
