Quilt that started our ministry
April 2012
Alone in my sewing studio, I felt impressed to take a sample of a photo
quilt to my dear friend Janice. She had been in and out of hospitals
during her fight with cancer. As I pulled out my samples she began to
cry.
During one of her last hopital stays she had seen a photo quilt
hanging on the wall of her roommate. She looked at it longingly,
wishing she knew someone who could make one for her....and I show up at
her door asking if I can make one for her. God heard her cry, through
her pain, and she was able to have this quilt for the last weeks of her
life.
This was the moment that defined the ministry God was directing me into.
Garden of Hope Ministries was created in memory of my dear friend Janice Vantichelt. We now make quilts
for other people to comfort and uplift the sick in body and spirit.
